EMH Revises Visitors Policy

ELYRIA, OH - Due to the increased seasonal and H1N1 flu activity, EMH Regional Healthcare System has temporarily revised its visitation policy.
Beginning immediately, visitors under the age of 18 will not be permitted to visit patients in EMH Regional Medical Center and Amherst Hospital. This new policy also includes visitation to the Family Birth Center on the Elyria campus.
This temporary policy was initiated to aid in reducing the risk of spreading the flu virus to patients and also to protect children and adolescents from the virus. This policy will remain in effect until further notice.
Donald Sheldon, MD, President and CEO of EMH Regional Healthcare System understands that this new policy change may cause our patient's families an inconvenience, however, his first priority is to keep our patients safe from the spread of the flu virus. "Children are in the high risk category for contracting the flu virus and I can't stress enough the importance of keeping healthy children from becoming ill by keeping them away from the hospital" says Dr. Sheldon.
Children and adolescents who are in need of medical attention will be welcome for treatment in all EMH emergency departments and the Kid's Care Express service.
