Laboratory Services

EMH Healthcare Laboratories offer comprehensive testing services in both Clinical and Anatomic Pathology.  On-site testing is performed in the following diagnostic areas:

The EMH Healthcare Laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation and Information Systems offering the newest and most advanced technologies, automated processes and robotics ensuing quality and integrity of results for best patient care.  Extensive use of barcode technology ensures superior patient safety and a rapid turnaround.  Hand-held computers with label printers are used by phlebotomists on the Elyria, Amherst and Avon campuses to scan patient informaiton from their bar-coded wristbands.  Labels are applied to specimens at the patient's bedside enhancing patient safety with positive sample ID.

Specimens are processed and analyzed as soon as they reach the laboratory.  We strives to deliver results to physicians in the shortest time possible and offers solutions for transmitting lab results to physician's Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Systems.

Accredited Facilities

All EMH laboratories hold a CLIA Certificate of Accreditation from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and are also accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), an internationally recognized accreditation program designed to help laboratories achieve the highest standards of excellence to positively impact patient care.  The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has granted the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program deeming authority and is recognized by the Joint Commission.
