Imaging Services - Radiology
The department of Imaging Services at EMH Healthcare offers a wide variety of medical imaging technologies to help diagnose and treat diseases. Three convenient locations, along with evening, weekend and walk-in appointments make it easy for patients to get the tests they need, right when they need them.
Our comprehensive services include:
CT scan - a non-invasive test that combines special x-ray equipment and computers to produce images of inside the body.
Cardiac CT - A painless test using an x-ray machine to take multiple pictures of small "slices" of the heart. A computer puts the pictures together to create one large 3-D reconstruction of the heart, allowing us to see arteries and veins.
Cardiac MR - A non-invasive test that uses a powerful magnetic field, radio frequency pulses and a computer to produce detailed pictures of the heart, without exposure to radiation or the use of an injected contrasting agent.
DEXA Scan (bone density) - A non-invasive test using an enhanced form of x-ray technology to help measure bone loss.
Diagnostic - utilizing both fluoroscopy and x-ray.
- Fluoroscopy - A non-invasive test for obtaining real-time x-ray images of a patient using a television camera.
- X-ray - A non-invasive test that involves exposing the body to a small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of inside the body.
Mammography - A non-invasive test using low doses of x-ray to examine breasts. EMH offers both screening and diagnostic mammography as well as Breast MRI. Patients are offered the MammoPad® to enhance comfort during the exam.
PET/CT - Positron emission tomography (PET) - a type of nuclear imaging - is superimposed with a CT scan to produce more precise images within the body. EMH Regional Healthcare System is equipped with the latest technologies available.
MRI - Magnetic resonance imaging is a non-invasive test that uses a powerful magnetic field, radio frequency pulses and a computer to produce detailed pictures of organs, tissue, bone and other internal body structures.
Nuclear Medicine - A branch of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material to produce images of internal body structures.
Ultrasound - A non-invasive test involving exposing part of the body to high frequency sound waves to produce pictures inside of the body.
Vascular CTA and MRA - Non-invasive studies that provide physicians with images of the blood vessels throughout the body. These elite studies look for signs of Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) and help predict heart attacks, stroke, kidney failure, aneurysms, leg pain and amputation.
